If one of your teeth is damaged, your dentist may recommend a dental crown to address the situation. A popular choice is the CEREC crown, which is often made out of a very strong ceramic and is designed, created, and installed using computer-assisted technology. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. You typically get one of these crowns as part of a same-day procedure that will get you in and out of the dentist’s chair in one afternoon.

One of the biggest issues with traditional crown over CEREC crown is accuracy. The biggest advantage of a CEREC crown is that a restoration can be designed and milled right here in our dental clinics. Using the latest CAD/CAM technology and state-of-the-art milling equipment, patients receive a perfect bespoke crown in just one single visit!

The obvious advantages of same-day CEREC are time-saving and convenience. However, there are other advantages that have made this procedure very popular.

1. It restores the function of your teeth immediately.
2. Same-day CEREC reduces the risk of injury by giving you a crown that fits in one visit.

CROWNS IN A SINGLE VISIT

Crowns, commonly referred to as caps, are a procedure that includes the reshaping of an entire tooth, reducing it in size by approximately 25%, then covering it with a natural-appearing, ceramic crown. A dental crown can be used to replace a chipped, broken, decayed, misaligned, or discolored tooth. It can add strength and color stability to otherwise compromised teeth. In our office, in most cases, we utilize CEREC® technology to create life-like ceramic crowns in a single visit.

THE ULTIMATE IN DIGITAL DENTISTRY TECHNOLOGY

CEREC® 3D is a new technology that is used to replace failing restorations, broken teeth and old mercury fillings with beautiful full ceramic fillings or crowns in just one visit. CEREC® uses CAD/CAM technology, incorporating a camera, computer, and milling machine all in one instrument.

Using a special camera, the dentist takes a precise digital image of the prepared tooth, avoiding the traditional physical impression. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer monitor where the CEREC specialist design the restoration by 3D CAD technology.

Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the life-like porcelain restoration right in our office, while our patients enjoy a few minutes for business calls, emails or relaxation. Finally, the dentist bonds the restoration to the surface of the prepared tooth producing a “new” tooth that rejuvenates the smile instantly.
